Sturgeon Bay's Target store has unveiled a complete overhaul of its interior and exterior ahead of the holiday shopping season.
The multi-million-dollar redesign began in March and wrapped up in September. The store stayed open throughout the work, with much of the construction done overnight, Store Director Benjamin Hubing said.
The biggest change is in food and beverage, where the departments have roughly tripled in size. Hubing said the city's west side now has its first full-service grocery store, with expanded fresh produce, meats, deli and organic sections, plus a larger grab-and-go area.
Other changes include a new front entryway and facade, polished concrete floors replacing tile, updated LED lighting, and an expanded order pickup and drive-up area. Hubing said the store was the only one of 10 in its district to receive the upgrade.
The larger grocery department has also meant more hiring, and the store is still staffing up for both the expanded food area and the fourth-quarter holiday season.
