Columbus Catholic advanced to the state volleyball tournament on Saturday, Oct. 31, with a 3-0 win over Pacelli in a WIAA Division 4 sectional final.
The win sends Columbus to the Division 4 state semifinals on Thursday morning. In the other Division 4 sectional final listed Saturday, McDonell beat Edgar 3-0.
Central Wisconsin also sent two teams through in Division 3. Marathon beat Menasha St. Mary 3-0 at Clintonville, and Stanley-Boyd beat Fall Creek 3-0. Both teams are scheduled to play Division 3 semifinal matches on Friday morning.
In Division 2, Barron edged Mosinee 3-2. In Division 5, Seneca beat Athens 3-1.
Saturday also brought the WIAA state cross country finals at Wisconsin Rapids, where Marathon won the boys Division 3 team title, and eight-man football, where Owen-Withee won 32-23 at Oshkosh Valley Christian in a quarterfinal.
