The Universities of Wisconsin reported fall 2026 enrollment of 164,579 students, based on 10th-day enrollment figures released this week.

The total is down 1,233 students from fall 2025. The system said much of the decline came from international enrollment, which fell by 1,134 students to 8,889.

Among campuses in northeast and north-central Wisconsin, UW-Green Bay enrolled 12,059 students, UW-Oshkosh enrolled 11,989 and UW-Stevens Point enrolled 8,457. UW-Madison remained the largest campus at 50,595, followed by UW-Milwaukee at 23,947 and UW-Whitewater at 12,268.

First-year enrollment was down by only 38 students compared with fall 2025, at 28,442. About 7,200 first-year students enrolled through Direct Admit Wisconsin, up from 5,200 last fall, and the system said those students account for 46% of first-year enrollment at participating schools.

High school special enrollment reached a record 14,579 students, an increase of 857. The system noted that final revisions are usually made at the end of the semester.
