The Oct. 31 scoreboard lists schedules for central Wisconsin college athletes, including Marshfield's Brooks Hinson with Northern Michigan men's basketball, Caitlyn Pernsteiner with Lakeland volleyball and Reese Grimm of Pittsville with UW-Eau Claire women's basketball, among many others from Marshfield, Stratford, Colby, Columbus and other area communities.
In WIAA playoff football played Oct. 30, Monona Grove beat Marshfield 34-14 in Division 2, Fox Valley Lutheran beat Medford 42-7 in Division 3, and Wrightstown beat Stratford 9-0 in Division 4. Edgar beat Pardeeville 56-18 in Division 6.
In college football on Oct. 31, UW-Platteville beat UW-Stevens Point 35-7, UW-Eau Claire beat UW-La Crosse 27-10, UW-River Falls beat UW-Stout 35-30, and Iowa beat Wisconsin 30-0.
At the WIAA state cross-country finals in Wisconsin Rapids, Neenah won the Division 1 girls title with 96 points and Marshfield placed 15th with 326 points. Marathon won the Division 3 boys title with 102 points, and Stevens Point won the Division 1 boys title with 90 points.
In WIAA sectional volleyball, Marathon beat Menasha St. Mary 3-0 in a Division 3 final at Clintonville and advanced to the state semifinals at the Resch Center. Other sectional finals listed for Oct. 31 included Barron at Mosinee, Columbus against Pacelli and Edgar against McDonell.
