The Greater Wausau Chamber of Commerce hosted a free community training this week at the Klimisch Center for Business Innovation at the WPS Powerhouse in Wausau.

The session covered Threat Evaluation and Reporting Overview, known as TERO, and was led by Certified Master Trainer Hope Cameron.

TERO is a Department of Homeland Security course that takes a behavioral approach to preventing targeted violence. Cameron walked participants through risk factors, life stressors and warning behaviors that can indicate someone may be moving toward violence.

The session also covered the role bystanders play in speaking up. A central point was that targeted violence is planned rather than sudden, which leaves chances to notice concerning behavior and act before harm occurs.
