Students at Frank Elementary School in Kenosha celebrated Halloween on Friday afternoon, Oct. 30, with an after-school trunk-or-treat event in the school parking lot.

Dean Mitch Thomas handed out treats dressed as Scooby-Doo and posed for photos with students, whose costumes ranged from Spider-Man to spooky Halloween outfits.

Kenosha Police Officer Tanya Watkins also handed out candy. Watkins normally works the midnight shift and came in for the afternoon to take part.

Watkins brought a police squad car and turned its open rear hatch into a giant monster mouth, with oversized eyes and sharp white teeth, where students stopped to collect candy and show off their costumes.

One student who hopes to become a police officer asked Watkins about academy training. Watkins told her recruits have to experience both being tased and being pepper-sprayed, and said the pepper spray was worse in her view.
