Twelve Wausau-area contestants will compete Nov. 7 in the Miss Wausau Area and Miss Wausau Area's Teen scholarship competition, the Miss Wausau Area Scholarship Organization announced.
Eight contestants are entered for Miss Wausau Area 2027 and four for the Teen title. The competition begins at 4 p.m. at the UW Center for Civic Engagement in Wausau.
Talents on the program range from classical violin and flute to a weightlifting and CrossFit demonstration, gymnastics and hip-hop dance. Each contestant's service platform is also part of her entry, covering topics from senior companionship and rare disease awareness to youth entrepreneurship and blood donation.
More than $10,000 in scholarships is available, and every contestant receives at least $100 for participating. Contestants are judged in personal interview, health and fitness, talent, evening gown and an onstage question.
The event is a local preliminary to Miss Wisconsin and Miss Wisconsin's Teen, with the winners moving on to the state competition in June. Tickets are $15 at the door and are also sold in advance through the organization's website.
