Student organizations at Marshfield High School will host a Veterans Day breakfast on Wednesday, Nov. 11, to honor people who have served in the U.S. military.

The morning begins at 8 a.m. with fellowship and coffee at the high school. A presentation and salute through the school's hallways follows at 8:15 a.m., and breakfast will be served after that.

The event is organized by the Marshfield High School Student Council. Members of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, known as FCCLA, will prepare breakfast for the veterans who attend.

Carla MacArthur, the FCCLA adviser and a Family and Consumer Science teacher at the school, said the annual event connects students with veterans, and that students are often surprised by how grateful the veterans are. She said the Honor Walk can be especially meaningful for veterans who did not receive a warm welcome when they returned home from service.

MacArthur said preparing food is also a way for students to show they care and to give something back. Veterans attending are asked to park in the staff parking lot at the front of Marshfield High School.
