An Oshkosh driver was killed early Monday when a vehicle left the road and crashed into a house near the intersection of Merritt Avenue and Grand Street, according to the Oshkosh Police Department.
Officers were called to the scene at about 2:10 a.m. The driver was the only person in the vehicle and was pronounced dead despite life-saving efforts.
The Oshkosh Fire Department also responded and used a winch attached to a ladder truck to pull the vehicle out of the home. No one inside the house was injured.
Members of the police department's Accident Investigation Team and Criminal Investigation Division responded, and the investigation is ongoing. The roadway was closed during the investigation and has since reopened.
