The Friends of the Marathon County Public Library will hold its next book and media sale at the library's Wausau headquarters, 300 N. First St., starting with a members-only evening on Nov. 4 and continuing as a public sale Nov. 5-7.
Shoppers can browse thousands of discounted items, including hardcover and paperback books, audiobooks on CD, movies and TV series on DVD and Blu-ray, music CDs, board games and puzzles. The merchandise comes from community donations and from items removed from the library's collection.
Most items are priced from 50 cents to a few dollars. The members-only sale runs 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 4, and membership costs $10 for an individual or $15 for a family. People can apply through the library's website or sign up at the entrance table that night.
The public sale runs 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 5, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 6 and 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 7. On the final day, shoppers can fill a large paper bag with books and pay $6 for the whole bag.
Admission is free and no registration is required. Proceeds from the sale support public programs and events at all nine Marathon County Public Library locations.
