The Wausau Cyclones have added a high-scoring forward for next season, signing Jacob Maxon of Amery to a tender agreement for 2026-27.

Maxon, an Amery native, played at Amery High. Last season he scored 44 goals and added 28 assists in 24 games.

Over his full high school career, he totaled 90 goals and 94 assists in 95 games. He earned first-team all-state honors this past season and helped lead Amery to the Division II state championship game.

Head coach and general manager of hockey operations Nathan Oystrick described Maxon as a big, physical player who goes to the hard areas of the ice, uses his vision and hockey sense to create plays, and brings a heavy shot and speed to the net.

Oystrick said the Cyclones had followed Maxon for a few years, noting he was a three-sport athlete in high school and that coaches and opponents praised his skill and compete level.
