Superior Public Library announced on Oct. 30 that Libby users whose library cards are expired will no longer be able to check out items or place holds on their Libby accounts, under a change the library said started Sept. 1, 2026.

The library said the change affects patrons who only use digital resources from Superior Public Library, because library cards expire every year. Annual renewal allows staff to verify patron information and keep records up to date.

Patrons can check the status of their card online at superior.northernwaters.org by logging in with their name and library card number, then clicking their name in the upper right corner to see the expiration date. In the NWLN Libraries mobile app, the expiration date is listed under 'My Details.'

An expired card can be renewed over the phone by calling the library at 715-394-8860 during open hours — Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — in what the library said takes just a couple of minutes.

The library reminded patrons to notify it if they change their name, address, phone number or email address.
