The National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan issued a Small Craft Advisory on Sunday afternoon for Lake Michigan nearshore waters near Sheboygan.

The advisory, issued at 12:43 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, covers two zones — Sheboygan to Port Washington and Port Washington to North Point Light — and is in effect from 7 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, through 10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27.

Forecasters expect northeast winds of 10 to 20 knots with gusts up to 25 knots and waves of 4 to 6 feet. A nearshore forecast issued Sunday evening put waves building to 5 to 7 feet on Monday in the Sheboygan-to-Port Washington zone.

The Weather Service advises inexperienced mariners, especially those in smaller vessels, to avoid navigating in the hazardous conditions, and says boaters should check the latest marine alert and forecast before departing.

The advisory applies to the specified Lake Michigan waters and is not a land-weather advisory for Sheboygan County.
