The Racine Community Development Authority has approved a plan to replace a vacant property in the Lincoln-King neighborhood with new townhomes.

The project calls for demolishing a vacant 12-bedroom duplex at 1026 Wilson St. and building a five-unit townhome building on the site.

The new building is expected to cost $2.12 million to construct, after the authority acquired the Wilson Street property for $300,000 in July 2026. Funding is through the municipal Redevelopment Activities account.

Approval for the demolition and construction was given on Oct. 26, 2026. Construction is scheduled to start in November 2026 and to be completed by the end of May 2027.

The five units will bring the Lincoln-King development to 38 units in total. The work is part of a broader $100 million investment aimed at upgrading housing in the neighborhood.
