New India Curry House has opened inside Oakwood Mall in Eau Claire, in the mall's southwest wing in the former Five Guys space at 4800 Golf Road.
The restaurant is run by the same owners as New Maharaja, the Chippewa Falls restaurant at 1009 W. Park Ave. that recently closed. Owner Om Parkash said the new location offers a fresh start with a pared-down, easier-to-read menu.
The menu centers on northern Indian dishes including curries, tandoori, tikka masala and saag, with mild, medium and hot spice levels and gluten-free and vegan options. A lunch buffet runs daily from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., always including chicken tikka masala and tandoori chicken, with other dishes and dessert rotating daily.
The business also serves beer and wine, chai tea and mango lassi, and operates its own food truck, with catering and truck bookings planned into next spring and summer. It has been serving customers since Oct. 1.
