Former Milwaukee Brewer Vinny Rottino is watching this World Series from home in Racine County, sharing the experience across generations of his family. The Brewers were the first Major League team to sign him, and he now works as a Brewers broadcaster during the regular season.
Rottino and his wife Maggie are both Racine natives and longtime fans. In the postseason his broadcast role pauses, leaving him free to follow the team the way he did growing up — as a fan.
He took his father to Game 2 of the World Series, a trip he described as magical. The couple's children have joined in too, attending a watch party at American Family Field, with one child going to Game One and the rest cheering from home.
Rottino's connection to the team goes back to childhood, when he had posters of Robin Yount on his wall. At his first spring training, Yount himself was hitting him ground balls — a moment he called surreal. He says he loves broadcasting, but his heart has always been with the Brewers.
The family has been sharing the run on social media in a video series they call Morning Baseball Brew, and some of the clips have drawn tens of thousands of views. Fans have stopped them at games to say they enjoy the videos.
Rottino believes the club has learned how to win in October, and he does not think this will be the last World Series his family gets to watch together.
