A downtown Kenosha tea shop is adding a place for customers to sit and sip. Southport Tea, at 5701 Sixth Ave., will hold a grand opening for its new tea bar on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 1 p.m.

Owner Russ Collier took over the shop in April 2026. The store now stocks more than 125 varieties of loose-leaf teas and herbs, plus tea accessories, teaware and gifts. The tea bar will at first serve freshly brewed tea Wednesday through Sunday, including the shop's Kenosha Breakfast Blend black tea and a seasonal Berry Hearth herbal tea, with a rotating weekend menu of additional teas made to order.

The following week, from Nov. 27 through Nov. 29, the shop will host Kenosha artist Aaron Hunzinger, who runs AHdidit. His handcrafted work includes custom lighting, furniture, metal artwork and leather goods, and his light fixtures are set to fill the storefront windows during Kenosha's Lightin' Up festivities.

Collier said the weekend is a chance to showcase another local business and welcome shoppers into the store during one of the busiest retail weekends of the year. Southport Tea will stay open later that weekend, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 27, and Saturday, Nov. 28, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29.

Starting Dec. 5, the shop also plans weekly tea tasting events where guests can sample varieties and learn about them, with tickets sold in the store and online. More information is available at SouthportTea.com.
