Kenosha St. Joseph Catholic is headed to the WIAA Division 6 state semifinals after a 27-14 win over Manitowoc Lutheran on Friday, Nov. 6, in a Level 3 playoff game.

The Lancers took control early, building a 21-0 lead in the first quarter. Quarterback Christopher Kenesie opened the scoring with a 75-yard touchdown run on the second play of the game.

Kenesie finished with 184 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries, with 113 of those yards coming in the first quarter. A 45-yard touchdown run by Kenesie was wiped out by a holding penalty shortly before halftime.

Manitowoc Lutheran's defense, which had not allowed a point in nine games this season, gave up 27 points — 10 more than any other opponent had scored against the Lancers this year. Manitowoc Lutheran closes its season after back-to-back Level 3 home games and two straight Big East championships, with a 23-2 record over the past two seasons.

St. Joseph advances to face Mondovi in the semifinal round at Waupaca, with a trip to the Division 6 state championship game on the line.
