Eight apartments at 92 Forest Ave. in Fond du Lac were deemed uninhabitable after flooding left standing water on all three floors of the building, Fond du Lac Fire Rescue said in a release on Thursday, Oct. 29.

Fire Rescue said crews responded to the building, on Forest Avenue near Beloit and Sunny Slope roads, for flooding caused by a roof-related problem. The water affected multiple apartments, and several units were evacuated while the building inspector and utility crews checked safety.

Eight occupants had to relocate, along with three cats and two dogs, according to Fire Rescue. No injuries were reported.

The American Red Cross and the Fond du Lac County emergency manager were notified to help with sheltering needs. Fire Rescue said all of the residents ultimately found temporary accommodations on their own.

The scene was turned over to building maintenance, and the building inspector will follow up with the property owner, Fire Rescue said.
