Dirk MacDonald, 54, of Paddock Lake, and his daughter Leah, 20, bought two Milwaukee Brewers World Series tickets through StubHub on Oct. 15, paying $3,278.09 including fees and taxes for seats in Section 102 at American Family Field.
Shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday, the night before Game 1, StubHub told the family the tickets needed to be replaced. When they tried to pick replacement seats, the site showed none available and offered a refund that could take up to eight business days.
Kenosha County Eye contacted StubHub's national media relations department on Friday morning, Oct. 23, with the family's purchase details. StubHub acknowledged the inquiry at 9:57 a.m. and confirmed a resolution an hour later.
StubHub said its customer support team had reached the MacDonalds and that they would attend Game 1 that night against the Tampa Bay Rays, with seats upgraded to Section 101 at no extra cost. Dirk MacDonald said he was told the original seller had failed to provide the tickets, and that the replacement seats were more expensive than the ones he bought, with StubHub covering the difference.
Dirk credited the newspaper's inquiry with helping get the problem resolved after his own attempts reached automated services. He described attending a World Series game with his daughter as a lifelong dream for the family, which has lived in Kenosha County for three generations.
