The Trempealeau County Board voted on Oct. 21 to hold a special meeting on Oct. 26 to elect a county board chair.
The motion was made by Supervisor Bridget Turner and seconded by Supervisor David Larson, and it passed on a voice vote.
The board also directed its executive and finance committee to prepare a transition plan covering administration, finance and human resources for the board to consider on Nov. 2.
Outside counsel told supervisors during the Oct. 21 discussion that the working relationship between the current chair and the county administrator was badly broken, and urged the board to agree on a consensus path forward.
