A new apartment complex has officially opened in Wausau.
700 Grand stands at the corner of Thomas Street and Grand Avenue. The four-story building holds 50 apartments, with one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts.
The project is an affordable housing development by Commonwealth Development Corporation, advanced through 700 Grand Apartments LLC. The Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority awarded about $1.69 million in housing tax credits to support the roughly $20 million development.
The city of Wausau also backed the project, approving $1.84 million in city gap funding along with a $60,000 contingency for environmental cleanup costs.
Apartments at 700 Grand are now being listed for rent, with one- to three-bedroom homes shown starting at $859 a month.
