Eau Claire's Oakwood Mall is adding a familiar toy store name ahead of the holidays.
Oakwood Mall announced on Nov. 4 that Toys "R" Us will open in a 5,000-square-foot space just off the food court, between Buckle and Exotic Snack Guys. Property management associate Joy Brantner said the store is expected to open within the next two weeks.
The Eau Claire opening follows a national expansion plan announced by Toys "R" Us in September to open 120 standalone stores across the country.
The chain, once one of the country's largest toy retailers, closed more than 800 locations after filing for bankruptcy in 2017. The brand was later acquired by WHP Global, which has led its return to physical stores.
Oakwood Mall, at 4800 Golf Road, has added several other tenants in recent months and years, including Claw Kraze and Exotic Snack Guys. The mall recently marked the 40th anniversary of its 1986 opening.
