Kenosha County marked Bob Lee Jr. Day on Oct. 26, the anniversary of a county proclamation first issued in 2023 in honor of Lee Mechanical chairman and chief executive Bob Lee Jr.

The date carries added weight in 2026 because Lee Mechanical is marking 50 years in business. The company traces its start to 1976, when it began in a Kenosha basement.

Lee received the Distinguished Citizen Award from the Three Harbors Council, Boy Scouts of America, on Oct. 26, 2023, during a celebration at Carthage College. Kenosha County Executive Samantha Kerkman proclaimed that date Bob Lee Jr. Day across the county, and then-Mayor John Antaramian presented a city proclamation as well.

His community work has included helping establish, with Joe Madrigrano, the Shirley Madrigrano & Natalie Lee Performing & Visual Arts Foundation to support young people through the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha. He has also served with the Froedtert South hospital system, on the Carthage College Board of Trustees and on the Somers Planning Commission.

The company's project work in the region has included Uline facilities and the Kenosha Innovation Center, UW-Parkside's Wyllie Hall, Carthage College's Straz Science Building and Froedtert facilities in Pleasant Prairie, along with manufacturing and distribution sites.
