Residents in the Wausau area can get a flu shot without paying during a clinic set for Sunday morning, Nov. 8.
The Marathon County Health Department clinic runs from 10 a.m. to noon at 1000 Lake View Drive in Wausau. People coming for a shot should use parking lots D or E and go in through Door 28.
No insurance information is needed, and the vaccine is being offered free of charge during the two-hour window.
The report on the clinic notes that people who have flu can pass the illness to others for days before their own symptoms appear, which is part of why health officials push vaccination ahead of wider spread.
The clinic follows a public exposure incident reported earlier in the week at the Marshfield Medical Center emergency department in Weston, where a person later confirmed ill was present on Nov. 5 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Anyone who may have been exposed is asked to limit contact with others and watch for symptoms.
