The Wisconsin Supreme Court heard oral arguments at the Heyde Center for the Arts in Chippewa Falls on Oct. 13 as part of its Justice on Wheels outreach program, the Wisconsin Court System said. WEAU also reported the visit on Tuesday.
The court heard two cases that morning: State v. John R. Phelan at 9 a.m. and Friends of Blue Mound State Park v. Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources at 10:30 a.m.
Justice on Wheels is the court's long-running program for hearing arguments outside the State Capitol in Madison. The Chippewa Falls stop was listed as the program's 34th since it began in 1993.
Seating was free and open to the public, with students and teachers especially encouraged to attend, and a livestream was available. Local attorneys provided short introductions before the arguments to help attendees follow the cases.
