Leadership Launchpad is bringing its Children's Business Fair back to Wausau this weekend for a sixth edition, with young sellers offering products and services they created themselves.

The fair runs Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Boys and Girls Club of Wausau, where more than 40 booths are expected. Members of the public are invited to attend, shop and support the young participants.

Children taking part are ages 6 to 16 and pay at least $25 to participate. Organizers said sign-ups were still open through their website, and that a few extra tables are usually available for vendors who join late.

Preparing for the fair is meant to give participants practical experience with starting a small business. Each child develops a brand, creates a product or service and puts together a plan for marketing it.

Goods expected at past and current booths include crochet work, laser-engraved items, baked goods, smoothies and coffee, along with 3D-printed items, bracelets and other jewelry, and candles.

At the close of the fair, guest judges and sponsors will select booths for $50 cash prizes. The event is held twice a year, and organizers said the next edition is scheduled for April 17 next year.
