The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire hosted its first combined String Festival on Saturday at the Haas Fine Arts Center.
The daylong event merged festivals that had previously been held separately for violin and viola, cello, bass and guitar players.
Middle and high school students from Eau Claire, surrounding communities and the Twin Cities took part in rehearsals, master classes and workshops alongside UW-Eau Claire students and guest artists.
The festival ended with recitals.
