A Thanksgiving morning tradition returns to downtown Wausau this year, as the United Way Turkey Trot marks its 17th year on Nov. 26.
The event gets underway at 8:30 a.m. at the 400 Block downtown. Registration is now open through unitedwaymc.org.
Money raised goes to the United Way Hunger Coalition, which works to strengthen how food reaches people across Marathon County.
That support helps the coalition buy fresh produce straight from Marathon County farmers and move it out through neighborhood food pantries and other community partners.
Organizers welcome whole families to take part, and pets, strollers and turkey-themed costumes are all encouraged on the morning.
