A Kenosha County jury on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026, found Antonio D. Summers, 40, of Waukegan, Illinois, guilty in a first-degree intentional homicide case stemming from a 2023 shooting in Kenosha.

DeShun Montreal Jackson, 44, of Kenosha, was shot in the early morning hours of April 23, 2023, inside an apartment building in the 1600 block of 60th Street. Officers and firefighters attempted lifesaving measures, but Jackson died at the scene. Investigators said the shooting was not a random act.

The case had been pending for about three and a half years. After a warrant was issued, Chicago police arrested Summers on June 3, 2023, and he was held in Illinois pending extradition to Wisconsin. The Wisconsin complaint also noted a prior felony firearm conviction in Lake County, Illinois, from June 2020.

Assistant District Attorney Morgan Millar prosecuted the case before Kenosha County Circuit Court Judge Jason Rossell. District Attorney Xavier Solis praised Millar's preparation and determination after the verdict and said his office will continue to prosecute people who bring violence into Kenosha County.

Summers had also been charged with attempted armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety and intentionally pointing a firearm at another person. The outcomes of those additional charges were not immediately available.

Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 16, 2026, before Judge Rossell. A conviction for first-degree intentional homicide in Wisconsin carries a mandatory life sentence, with the court determining eligibility for extended supervision.
