Dense fog may have played a role in a crash involving an SUV and a semi truck on Tuesday morning in Sheboygan County, according to the sheriff's department.

The crash happened around 7:55 a.m. on Oct. 20 at the intersection of State Highway 32 and County Road V in the Town of Lima. Deputies said an SUV heading north on Highway 32 struck the trailer of a semi traveling west on County Road V.

No injuries were reported. The intersection was closed for about two hours and reopened by 10:24 a.m., while the crash remains under investigation.

Thick fog covered much of Sheboygan County on Tuesday morning, cutting visibility to less than a mile in some areas, and reduced visibility lingered in parts of the county into the afternoon.

A Sheboygan Falls resident told reporters the fog was so thick he first thought it was smoke from a fire, and he raised concerns about drivers having to make sudden decisions at busy truck intersections when visibility is low.
