Schmeeckle Reserve at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will hold its annual Fall Candlelight Hike from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, at 2419 North Point Drive in Stevens Point.

This year's theme is "The Great Schmeeckle Bake Off." The evening includes trails lit by jack-o'-lanterns and torches, character programs at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., snacks and crafts. A donation of $4 per person or $10 per family is suggested to support future events and projects of the Friends of Schmeeckle Reserve.

Parking will be available in the reserve's overflow lot and along North Point Drive, Michigan Avenue and Maria Drive. The paved visitor center lot will be reserved for visitors with disabilities or other special needs.

The reserve's family nature programs, led by UW-Stevens Point natural resources students, are free and open to the public and run from October through December. The remaining October schedule includes a fur trade program on Oct. 18, freshwater jellyfish on Oct. 20, wildlife migration and hibernation on Oct. 21, birds that mimic sounds on Oct. 24, and the historical and ecological uses of pine trees on Oct. 25. Visitors are asked to dress for the weather.
