Women in Kenosha County and nearby communities are invited to sing with the Riverport Chorus this holiday season through the group's annual guest singer program, held this year under the theme "Let Your Inner Elf Shine." Singers of all experience levels can learn Christmas carols and other holiday songs in four-part a cappella harmony, with no participation fee and no long-term commitment.

Guest rehearsals run on Monday evenings from Oct. 26 through Nov. 30, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., in the choir room at Wilmot Union High School, 11112 308th Ave. in Wilmot. Sheet music and learning tracks are provided, with a $20 refundable deposit for the materials. Chorus president Julie Quesenberry encouraged local women to join in and get into the holiday spirit through the program.

The six weeks of rehearsals lead to a free public concert on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Paddock Lake. Guest singers who take part in the rehearsals will be invited to perform with the chorus at the concert.

The Riverport Chorus marked its 62nd anniversary this year and has been part of the area singing community for more than six decades. The group earned the Region 3 Sweet Adelines Audience Choice Award in both 2025 and 2026. It is directed by Laurel Peterson and rehearses regularly on Monday evenings at Wilmot Union High School, where guests are welcome during the year as well.

Women who want to take part can simply attend the Monday evening rehearsals starting Oct. 26. More information is available at riverportchorus.org and on the chorus's Facebook page.
