A Racine woman is charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the shooting death of Raymond Massie Jr., 30, early Sunday.

Police said the shooting happened just after 3 a.m. Sunday at a home in the 2900 block of Russet Street, north of Durand Avenue. Investigators said it began as an argument between family members, and that another family member arrived and opened fire, hitting Massie. He died at the scene.

Charlene House, 63, made her first court appearance on Monday. In addition to the homicide charge, she is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to the criminal complaint, House called dispatchers before the shooting and said she would kill Massie if she got home before officers did. On a second call, the complaint said, dispatchers heard yelling and shots being fired. The complaint said both House and Massie lived at the Russet Street home.

A court commissioner set House's cash bond at $500,000. She is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 28.

Massie's mother, Lasheky Hill, has been missing since March 2023, and Racine police are still investigating her disappearance.
