Park High School in Racine has finished its football season early. The Racine Unified School District said a low number of available players led to cancellation of the team's remaining games.

The canceled games included a matchup with Case and a scheduled game this week against Kenosha Bradford.

Players said the season was affected by injuries, teammates leaving the team, and changes in coaching staff after the original head coach departed near the start of the season. Sophomore Quinn Toslek described coaching duties passing to other staff members as the year went on.

Fellow sophomore Matteo Estrada said he came to Park to play football and had hoped for a winning season, and he expressed frustration with teammates who stopped attending.

District communications chief Stacy Tapp said the district is working to return the program in stronger shape next fall. Parents told reporters they would like to see added resources and support for players.

Toslek and Estrada both said they want to reach the playoffs next season and believe that is possible with committed teammates and hard work.
