UW-La Crosse athletics is taking part in One Day for UWL on Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 20-21.
The giving event runs for 24 hours, from 9 a.m. Tuesday through 9 a.m. Wednesday. Alumni, students, parents, friends, supporters and staff can direct gifts to the general athletics department, a specific sport, endowment funds, support staff, facility funds or the Wall of Fame.
Athletics officials say the money helps student-athletes and staff through added travel opportunities, new equipment and general program support. A challenge adds an incentive: if athletics reaches 500 alumni donors, it unlocks $500 for every UWL athletics program.
UWL fields 21 varsity programs with more than 600 student-athletes. The school has won 83 national championships in its history, including 54 NCAA Division III titles, the second-highest total in Division III, and 463 WIAC titles.
Gifts can be made through the One Day for UWL giving site or by mail to the UWL Foundation at the Cleary Alumni & Friends Center in La Crosse, with One Day for UWL noted in the memo line.
