Communities across Northeast Wisconsin joined a nationwide round of "No Kings" gatherings on Saturday, Oct. 17, with organizers framing the day as an effort to encourage early voting ahead of the Nov. 3 election.
In Chilton, organizers said about 20 to 25 people took part. Chilton participant Gary Lemke said organizers hope to hold more gatherings in the future.
Other Northeast Wisconsin communities hosting gatherings included Green Bay, Appleton, Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, Manitowoc and Marinette.
In-person absentee voting in Wisconsin may begin as early as Tuesday, Oct. 20, depending on the municipality, and can continue through Nov. 1. Absentee ballots returned by mail or in person must be received by 8 p.m. on Election Day.
