Control of the Wisconsin Legislature is on the ballot in the Nov. 3 election, and a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel voters guide rounds up preview coverage of the key races in the Milwaukee area.
Democrats have been in the minority in both chambers for 15 years. To take the majority, they would need to flip two seats in the Senate and five seats in the Assembly.
For Racine-area voters, the headline race is Senate District 21, where Republican Jim Croft faces Democrat Trevor Jung. The district covers part of the city of Racine and parts of northern Racine County, along with Franklin, Greenfield and Hales Corners in Milwaukee County.
The guide also lists Senate District 23, where Republican Chris Kapenga faces Democrat Mike Van Someren in a district covering roughly two-thirds of Waukesha County and parts of Jefferson, Dodge and Washington counties.
Assembly races in the guide include districts covering Milwaukee, West Allis, Wauwatosa, Oak Creek, Pewaukee, Waukesha, Brookfield and communities in Ozaukee and Washington counties. The Journal Sentinel says the guide will be updated as more preview stories are posted.
