Microsoft has revised the layout for its expanding campus in Mount Pleasant, according to plans filed with the village Plan Commission.
The updated plan calls for seven one-story data center buildings, along with one storage building and two utility substations. The combined total is about 5,878,080 square feet, roughly 400,000 square feet more than the previous plan for nine buildings.
Village staff recommended approval ahead of the Plan Commission meeting scheduled for Oct. 14 at Village Hall, with the proposal able to move on to the Village Board.
A Microsoft spokesman said the redesign is meant to speed development and reach added capacity sooner, and does not reduce the company's plans for the site. The company said it will keep the community updated before vertical construction begins.
Microsoft's first Mount Pleasant data center is complete and a second is under construction nearby. The village has approved up to 15 data centers on the property, though the final number the company will build is not yet clear.
The company became Racine County's largest taxpayer in 2026, paying about $19.75 million on assessed property valued at about $1.224 billion.
