Microsoft has bought more land in Mount Pleasant, acquiring 70.9 acres of mostly vacant farmland at 12734 Louis Sorenson Road.
The company paid $12.75 million for the property. The seller was the Thomas A. Hribar Sr. Revocable Trust.
Microsoft said the added land will support data center construction that is already underway in the area, according to a statement from Bowen Wallace, the company's vice president for data centers in the Americas.
The company broke ground on its first Mount Pleasant site last year. It originally planned to develop 315 acres on land that had previously been set aside for a Foxconn manufacturing project.
Since then, Microsoft has won approval for a further expansion of about 1,000 acres and bought another 205 acres last month. The company has said it plans to invest more than $3 billion in its Racine County development.
