Marshfield's Ronald McDonald House marked a new name with a ribbon cutting on Oct. 14. It is now Ronald McDonald House North Central Wisconsin, a change that took effect Oct. 15, while the house itself stays in Marshfield.

Executive Director John Bauer said the new name better reflects the wider region the house serves. Families stay there while children receive medical care nearby, and they come from across Wisconsin and other states.

The change is part of a wider effort to give Ronald McDonald House chapters a more consistent identity. The new logo shows a house shape with a heart at its center.

Bauer said the house is on track to serve nearly 400 families this year and to provide just over 7,000 meals.

The Marshfield house opened in 1983 as the first Ronald McDonald House in Wisconsin and remains one of only three in the state.
