A 25-year-old man from Manitowoc was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Sunday in Manitowoc County.
A sheriff's deputy came across the crash shortly after 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of State Highway 42 and County Road C in the Town of Newton. The crash appeared to have happened a short time earlier.
Investigators said in a preliminary account that a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling east on County Road C when it left the roadway and entered the ditch. The car overturned and came to rest in the intersection, and the driver was ejected.
The driver was the only person in the vehicle. First responders attempted lifesaving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Newton Fire Department and Newton First Responders assisted at the scene, along with the Manitowoc County Coroner's Office, Manitowoc Fire and Rescue and other county agencies. The crash remains under investigation.
