A man involved in a multi-county mail theft and financial fraud scheme was sentenced Thursday in Outagamie County to an additional three years in prison.
Derrell Edwards, 32, pleaded no contest to four counts of theft of movable property. Eight other counts were dismissed as part of the case.
Outagamie County Judge Whitney Healy also placed Edwards on extended supervision for four years after his prison term. Edwards apologized to victims before the sentence was announced.
Edwards had previously been sentenced to two years in prison in Brown County in connection with the same scheme.
Investigators said Edwards and co-defendant Dionta Bratcher stole mail from area businesses, then altered checks and banking information to take money from business accounts. The total taken was more than $600,000, according to prosecutors.
Bratcher has received sentences in several counties, including 18 months in prison in Winnebago County, two years in prison in Brown County and six months in jail in Manitowoc County.
