In-person absentee voting for the Nov. 3 general election opens Tuesday, Oct. 20, in Kenosha County and runs through Friday, Oct. 30, at municipal clerk offices across the county.
County Clerk Regi Waligora announced the schedule on Friday. Voters must go to the clerk office in the municipality where they live, bring a photo ID, and can register at that office if they are not registered at their current address.
Hours vary by community. In the City of Kenosha, voting is at the Municipal Building, 625 52nd St., generally 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on voting days, with hours until 7 p.m. on Oct. 21 and Oct. 28 and until 5 p.m. on Oct. 30. Pleasant Prairie, Salem Lakes, Bristol, Twin Lakes, Somers and other municipalities also list daytime hours through Oct. 30, with most extending to 5 p.m. on the final day.
There is no in-person absentee voting on Monday, Nov. 2. Oct. 30 is also the last day to register at a clerk office before Election Day, though registration remains available at polling places on Nov. 3.
For mail voting, most voters must request an absentee ballot by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29. Officials recommend mailing a completed ballot by Oct. 24 or earlier, because a ballot must reach the clerk by 8 p.m. on Election Day to count — a postmark alone is not enough. Voters can also return ballots directly to their clerk office during business hours and can check registration, polling places and ballot status at MyVote Wisconsin.
