The Wisconsin Supreme Court on Oct. 14 denied review in the case of Matt and Annette Flynn of Kenosha, ending their appeal over a $12,849 Brewers 50/50 raffle prize from 2023. The court gave no explanation and assessed no costs.

The denial leaves in place a Milwaukee County circuit court dismissal of the Flynns' lawsuit against the Milwaukee Brewers Community Foundation, and a Court of Appeals decision that affirmed that dismissal. The lower courts ruled the raffle rules gave the Foundation discretion to decide whether a ticket was claimed on time.

The dispute began July 7, 2023, at American Family Field. Annette Flynn bought $20 in raffle tickets before the game, and one ticket, numbered 5632027, was drawn as the winner. She said she first went to Guest Services after directions from stadium staff, then was sent to the raffle desk, where she was told she was too late and another number had been picked.

The Flynns say Annette reached Guest Services before the deadline in the rules at the time — the end of the top of the seventh inning — and they have questioned surveillance timestamps and why the exact time the winning number was posted on the Foundation website was not provided in discovery. The Foundation objected to some of those requests.

After the dispute, the Foundation lengthened its claim window, first to park closing for the 2024 home opener and later to 30 days after a drawing. The Flynns said they turned down a $10,000 settlement offer that included confidentiality, and they continue to press for greater public access to raffle drawing recordings and information.
