Artists from Old North Tattoo in Eau Claire are showing work off the skin in a new exhibition at SHIFT, a downtown coffee shop at 615 Graham Ave.
The show, titled Over Caffeinated, features more than 20 works of varied scale and imagery by Shannon Nordin, Garrett Friede and Shannen Fredrickson. It includes classic Japanese traditional iconography and abstract portraiture.
Nordin owns Old North Tattoo, on North Barstow Street, and Friede and Fredrickson joined the shop in 2024. The artists said the title reflects the late nights and coffee behind the paintings.
Fredrickson built three-dimensional wooden structures to display bird motifs, while Friede used paper textures and cross-stitch details in his bird imagery. The artists said hand drawing and painting at full size also informs their tattoo work.
The exhibition will remain on display at SHIFT through January 2027. Pieces are available for purchase by contacting the individual artists.
