DHI Corp., based in Mequon, will move its corporate headquarters back to Milwaukee, the company said in a statement on Oct. 15.
About 25 employees will move to a 4,500-square-foot space at 1037 W. McKinley Ave. in Milwaukee's historic Pabst District. The company said the location strengthens its connection to the city's business community.
DHI is a home products company best known for its Design House and Leick Home brands. It sells home decor, furniture and hardware.
The company was founded in 1872 as a hardware business in Milwaukee's Walker's Point neighborhood. It moved to Mequon in 2002.
Chief executive JP Drevline said Milwaukee gives the company access to talent and business relationships that can help it grow and compete, and he called the move an investment in its people and in the community where the company began. The company also said the new headquarters will help it expand retail, e-commerce and distribution partnerships.
Milwaukee development commissioner Lafayette Crump called the return a meaningful addition to the city's business community. Since 2024, Fiserv, Milwaukee Tool and Allspring Global Investments have also moved headquarters or opened major new offices in the downtown area.
