Authorities say a Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Police officer tried to stop a vehicle at about 9:45 p.m. following a driving complaint, according to an Oct. 13 release summarized by 715 Newsroom and also reported by WEAU.

Investigators say the vehicle stopped in the Sevenwinds Casino parking lot, where a person got out and fired shots that struck a squad car. A pursuit followed and ended in a crash.

The man taken into custody was identified as Andrew White, 37, of Couderay. He was airlifted for medical treatment after the crash.

Officials said the officer and members of the public were not injured. White faces allegations including attempted first-degree homicide, reckless endangerment, felon in possession of a firearm and fleeing an officer. Those are allegations, not convictions, and the Sawyer County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
