Columbus Catholic Schools in Marshfield has named Peter Weiss as its new president, with the appointment taking effect immediately.

The system announced the hire on Oct. 19. Weiss arrives from the Diocese of Green Bay.

The Rev. Dan Thelen, the system's dean, said leaders were pleased to welcome Weiss following prayer and a careful interview process, and they look forward to the leadership he will bring.

Weiss said he was grateful and humbled to take the job, and that the interview process showed him how strongly faith and service to students and families drive the schools. He said he wants to build on the system's foundation so it can keep serving local families for generations.

Weiss met faculty and staff on Oct. 19. Families can meet him at parent-teacher conferences and athletic events in the coming weeks.

Columbus Catholic Schools serves students from preschool through high school in the Diocese of La Crosse. Its schools are St. John the Baptist Primary School, Our Lady of Peace Intermediate School, and Columbus Catholic Middle and High Schools.
