Residents across the Chippewa Valley disposed of expired prescription drugs at several area drive-thru sites on Saturday as part of National Drug Take Back Day.
The local event was hosted by the Chippewa County Department of Public Health and the Chippewa County Healthy Communities Coalition. Sites accepted medications along with creams and ointments, inhalers, non-aerosol sprays and patches.
Altoona Police Lt. Scott Kelley said safe disposal keeps medications out of landfills and sewers and out of the wrong hands.
Chippewa County also offers medication disposal options year-round for residents who missed Saturday's event.
